The RAF crew will be setting up camp at the next two AOPA Fly Ins!  We hope you will stop by and say “hi” or maybe even volunteer a couple of hours and join the team as we share our passion to preserve, maintain, and create airstrips for recreational access.

From California to Pennsylvania, the RAF crew will be all over the State's enjoying; flying, camping and fun with all our friends.  Make plans to join us at one of the many September events listed on the RAF Calendar.  Get out and enjoy all the amazing locations you can visit with your plane!  Remember to take pictures, we will be holding another photo contest for RAF greeting cards soon!

Carver’s Cut Opens with RAF Weekend Campout and Work Party

The first-ever Fly-in weekend at Carver’s Cut airstrip Aug 25-27 brought 15 planes and 30 folks to the newest recreational airstrip in California’s southern Sierra Nevadas. Guests enjoyed camping, potluck meals, trout fishing, hiking, and fellowship under the festive lights of the new pilot shelter.

The Moral Hazard of ATC Privatization

The Felts Field (KSFF) Tenants Association Board of Directors met with Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) Tuesday, August 29 to discuss Air Traffic Control. Attending was board member Jeff Hamilton, who owns and flies a variety of vintage, warbird and contemporary GA aircraft from his hangar at Felts Field. “It seemed to be a good dialog and this meeting allowed me to refine my thinking about the ATC Privatization issue,” he said.

Midwest RMEC Emphasizes Collaboration

Twenty RAF volunteers spent August 19 networking and learning ways to further the RAF mission at the “Midwest” RAF Mini Educational Conference (RMEC) hosted by JA Air Center in Aurora, Illinois. Guest speakers included state aviation officials, adding what RAF Michigan Liaison Brad Frederick called, “their great and enlightening input and perspective.”
