Summer may be winding down, but there is still plenty of flying to be done in September. Clicking on any event title will take you to the RAF events calendar page with more information.

August 31-September 3: Prickett-Grooms Fly-In, Michigan.

Come to Prickett Grooms Airfield (6Y9) for the day, or camp for the whole Labor Day weekend. Enjoy good times with old friends and make some new ones as well! We will serve burgers, hot dogs, snacks and drinks on Saturday, Sept. 1st at 11:30am. Saturday is the main day of the event.

September 7-9: EAA Chapter 110 and 657 Kentucky Sport Aviation Weekend, Kentucky

RAF Kentucky State Liaison Jeff Smith and RAF Kentucky Ambassador Bill McCormick will be at this event wearing orange; look out for them and say hello! Fly-In, camp out or stay at the lodge. There will be plenty of fun activities, airplanes, good food, and great people.

September 14 & 15: Johannesburg Airstrip Work Party, California

Your help is needed on September 15 to revitalize an abandoned airstrip near the town of Johannesburg, CA. The strip is located right next to a town called Randsberg, CA which is a funky "living ghost town" that will be hosting a wild west-themed event on the same day with live music and food stands.

September 15: 2nd Annual Astronomy Night at Havana Regional, Illinois

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 15. Havana Regional (9I0) (niner-india-zero) is hosting their second annual fly-in event that features Astronomy, camping and a pancake breakfast the next morning. Our guides to the cosmos will be the astronomers and astrophysicists from the University of Illinois Astronomy Club. They are bringing their knowledge of astronomy and their high-powered telescopes. This is your chance to see your favorite constellations, and an opportunity to ask all the questions you have always wanted to ask about the universe.

September 28-30: Creighton Island Fly-In Series, Georgia

Join the RAF for a fly-in series at Creighton Island Airfield in Georgia. This event is the last one in the series, which started in April.

Activities include: Hiking, exploring (most of the island is undeveloped and unchanged dating back to the civil war era), kayaking/canoeing, bird-watching, airstrip & site maintenance. Visit nearby St. Simon’s and/or Jekyll Islands.

September 28-30: Annual Bowstring Airport Fall Colors Fly-In, Minnesota

The annual Bowstring Airport (9YO) Fall Colors Fly-In/Drive-In Camp Out is scheduled for Sept 28th-30th, with weather dates of Oct 5th-7th. This event is sponsored by the Bowstring Flyers. Donations are accepted. For more information, contact Bowstring Airport Manager Ken Reichert: 218-244-6328.
